Henri Bourgeois is a classic Sancerre producer and his wines from the Loire are epic. However, he's also one of the few producers to have recognised the potential of New Zealand, and put his money behind it. He bought a vineyard down under in Marlborough and produces Le Petit Clos Sauvignon Blanc. 100% organic, with a delicious grapefruit core, this is a tangy, minerally New Zealand Sauvignon and extremely classy. Grapefruit and tangerine are at the fore with a steely minerality that gives it a finesse more akin to French Sauvignon, and some lees aging to give structure to the wine. Fabulous with any kind of shellfish or seafood.
