Closerie des Bories 2012, Francs Côtes de Bordeaux AOC

EXCLUSIVE TO THE BRIGHTON WINE COMPANY

This is made at a beautiful Château in the Côtes de Francs in Bordeaux, Château Puygueraud. It's been in the Thienpont family since 1946 - the same family that are behind Château Pavie Macquin, Vieux-Château-Certan and perhaps most famous of all, Château Le Pin. All are regarded as some of the best Châteaux in Bordeaux.

The Closerie de Bories is one of our favourite wines from Puygueraud and also ridiculously good value. It's made from 100% Merlot and spends over 12 months ageing in French oak before additional ageing in bottle. It is an incredibly smooth, polished wine, with wonderfully silky tannins, a pure core of delicious Cassis fruit with a seam of milk chocolate running through it. The finish has a touch of pepper and is impressively long. Basically this is top class Claret for a fraction of the price you'd normally pay.

And it's exclusive to us. Other than a few restaurants in London we are the only retailers of this cracking wine but it's only produced in tiny amounts, so we've a limited amount of cases available in the run up to Christmas.
