It's rare to find a quality wine from California for under £15.00. It's even rarer to find a top quality Pinot Noir from this fair state. On both these fronts, the Long Barn Pinot Noir knocks it out of the park, and is, without a doubt the best value red from the US we've come across in years. Pale ruby red in colour, it has a soft nose of red cherries. On the palate, you get luscious rich, sweet bramble fruit, with an edge of redcurrant, all of which combine with a subtle sweet spice character and a fresh, zippy acidity. Well structured with soft tannins and a silky mouthfeel, the fresh fruit flavours last for ever. Perfect with game of any kind, but particularly good with confit of duck.
