Provence rosés are rosés that are sometimes so pale only the slightest tint of pink separates them from white wines – a style that has been adopted, sometimes with great finesse, by producers up the Mediterranean coast in the Languedoc, among them the Foncalieu co-operative, which makes a particularly good value example from the rare (a mere 250 acres remain) piquepoul noir variety that has just the requisite hazy, pastel-shaded strawberry and easy freshness.
